Ferdinand von Zeppelin, who was born on July 8, 1838 in Germany, built his first airship in 1900 with a rigid frame, serving as the prototype for many subsequent models. Alberto Santos Dumont, Brazilian inventor born on July 20, 1973, began to take an interest in balloons in 1888. Among his contributions, His major accomplishments include making the first public flight in Europe with a powered, winged aircraft in 1906; winning the Archdeacon Cup for a flight of 60 meters; and winning an Aero Club of France Prize of 1,500 francs for the first flight of 100 meters.
Amelia Earhart, American aviator, was born on July 24, 1897. In 1935 Earhart made history with the first solo flight from Hawaii to California, a hazardous route 3,875 km long, a longer distance than that from the United States to Europe.
